A nice little brown

I picked this small brown up at the EB on a prince nymph.  I hooked a nice sized rainbow right after this one but it got off the hook at the net.  The water level is very low and I was surprised to see a nice brown in a pool right by my favorite spot to fish.  The brown was clearly over 18" and went after my streamers a few times.  I tried my best but he did not want to hit any of my flies I offered it!  I was just happy to just watch it swim while I enjoyed the peace on the stream.

Golden Retriever/ Cactus Bugger

I tied up some golden retriever/cactus bugger streamers recently. Trout really seem to nail this streamer, highly productive pattern.  Carp also are very quick to take this pattern as well.  I will be tying more in orange and tan....slowly gearing up for the new season.  The best sizes to have this pattern in is size 10 and 8.

Recipe for the flies in the picture:
Hook: Streamer hook 3X, Size 8
Tail: White Marabou or Tan marabou
Bead head: Gold 4mm
Thread: Red
Body: White Estaz or Tan Estaz

Yellowstone Brown...Whoa!

Cool fly fishing catch

Growing up I always had an silver arowana in one of my aquariums. Ended up having the same one for over 8 years! I always wanted a jardini arowana but never got around to it.  I found this picture online that a fly angler caught one and thought it was pretty cool.  Great catch of an awesome fish!
