East Branch Gem

I had a short window to fish so I decided to head to the EB.  I fly fished it for about two hours. Not many fly fishermen out but a handful of spinning anglers were there.

Nymphs were the ticket today.  Picked up a nice rainbow and a remarkable brown.  This brown was a very special catch to me. It was such a healthy fat trout.  I really wish the EB was a C&R only stream.  A fish like this is to nice to harm or keep for dinner. It was my first quality fish on my helios 2 rod.  It took a size 20 zebra midge and put up a great fight. The rainbow took a size 14 BH soft hackle PT and was another great fighter.

  1. Rainbow looks like Mitch might have caught her as well.

    1. I was thinking the same thing, the mouth tear was in the same spot but I didnt want to say anything.

I just said that about Mike's recent catch of that colorful brown and i dont think many agreed, lol. But honestly, i am 100% positive I caught that brown back in 12/2011. To many factors line up for it to not be the same brown!

  2. That's a beauty of a brown, John! And I couldnt agree more about C&R.... I'd like to see that enforced on most of our streams really.
